Hayle Takes the Cup Again!

16 September 2010. At the Southwest in Bloom presentations in Bath, the Hayle in Bloom team were delighted, first to hear that we had won Gold and then to hear that we were the SWTA Cup winners for the second year in a row.

We also won Neighbourhood Awards for:

  • Adopt-a-Plotters
  • Library Wildlife Garden
  • Millpond
  • King George V Memorial Walk (Outstanding)

The picture shows us receiving the Gold Award from TV and radio presenter Bob Flowerdew.

16 July 2010. We thought judging was going ok until Jon Wheatley was eaten by a tiger in the newly-created Jungle area maintained by new adopt-a-plotter Shirley Olds. Luckily we had a spare judge so things were able to continue. See more pictures in the gallery.

15 July 2010. Our entries for the children's art competition have been selected and forwarded for judging. Here is the winning painting in the 12+ category from Christian Turner of St. Piran's School. Isn't it amazing? See the others here.

14 July 2010. Our new flag proudly flies next to Copperhouse Pool. See more pictures in the gallery.

11 July 2010. RSPB local manager, David Flumm (left of the RSPB logo) leads a team that keeps the estuary clean.

06 July 2010. Jackie Mace from Cornwall Council and Margaret Tanner check out the gardens on the King George V Memorial Walk.

01 July 2010. The bed celebrating the centenary of the Girl Guides on Penpol Terrace is looking really nice. In fact the whole of the Terrace is looking excellent.

22 June 2010. The date for judging has been set and it is on Thursday, 15 July at 10am. Our judges are Jon Wheatley and Tom Sharples. Jon has visited us before and we look forward to meeting Tom.

16 June 2010. Even our greenhouse now sports a sign. It pays to advertise!

06 June 2010. Margaret Tanner, with help from the Community Payback team, repainted the floral boats and the railings at Foundry.
31 May 2010. Please note that our next meeting will be 21 June rather than the last Monday of the month. Please come along - time is short.
25 March 2010. Spring is in the air and our gardening team is on the job. Come along to our next meeting on 29 March, 7-30pm at the Rugby Club to hear our latest plans.
22 February 2010. Plans are afoot for a new judging route this year. We have a lot to show and it adds interest to vary the route from year to year. Come along to our monthly meetings to be the first in the know!

Mike and Alvin are, as always, on the job. Shown here getting ready

for planting after the winter clean up.
