Hayle - TheTown That Changed The World

25/08/2009. Hayle in Bloom commissioned Hayle artist Mervyn Sullivan to capture Hayle's incredible history for the benefit of our visitors (and some residents, too!).  Looking at Hayle today, most visitors have no idea that Hayle was at the centre of the industrial revolution with up to 80% of the world's steam engines being manufactured here at its peak.
Shown here is Mervyn preparing the foundations and support for his creation.
Almost done.
Engineering is alive and well in Hayle.
Proper Job!
Visit Penpol Terrace and learn about Richard Trevithick, the world's first car and some of the other engineering feats in which Hayle played a central role.
